Kimama New York – Overnight summer camp in New York

Kimama Experience in the U.S.

Kimama New York Teen Camp is a unique Israeli-American summer camp experience which takes place in New York.  This three-week overnight camp (including trips) is specially adapted for youth from ages 14-18. We run this camp in cooperation with Camp Tel Yehudah, the official national teen leadership camp of Young Judaea in the U.S.  The camp is aimed at campers from the U.S. and Israel who come to camp for a meaningful encounter experience which brings them closer to one another—and which brings U.S. campers closer to Israeli culture and the Hebrew language.

This is a unique and special experience characterized by varied and content-rich activities immersing campers in Israeli culture and innovation, which takes place in Hebrew and English and combines values education with the love of Israel.  At camp, you’ll meet experienced and beloved counselors you already know from Kimama along with other counselors from the U.S. and around the world, you’ll head out on trips to the East Coast of the U.S., and meet lots of new friends.

Our Staff

Our counselors, all speak at least two languages, are Kimama graduates, some of whom are emissaries (“shlichim”) with the Jewish agency, and all of whom offer a wealth of experience in leadership and working with children.

Our responsible and experienced team of counselors provides personal attention to every single camper. The team places a major emphasis on personal enrichment of campers, boosting their self-confidence, and providing a safe space where they can feel free to express who they truly are. Camper-to-counselor ratio: 1:6

Activities at Camp

The camp’s educational program is built on values of leadership, social skills development, critical thinking, along with Jewish and Zionist values. Beyond the camp’s educational activities, there are a range of varied activities: sports, swimming, art, trips, performance arts (theater, music, dance) and more. Camp counselors come from all over the U.S., from Israel, England, and other countries. Just like at Kimama camps in Israel, Kimama New York offers campers a choice of tracks and fields of interest: leadership, photography, extreme, creative writing, arts, krav maga, cooking, music studio, and chef.

Health

A clinic on-site at camp is fully equipped and staffed by a certified medical team (nurses) who are prepared to respond to any medical need.

We take every precaution when it comes to adequate hydration, preventing excess exposure to the sun and to hygiene. Numerous drinking fountains with cold water are located around camp.

Safety

During camp, clear, detailed, and recognized security procedures are followed. A significant portion of our staff training and preparation before the summer begins is dedicated to security procedures and the manner in which care must be taken in executing them.

Additionally, our counselors maintain constant vigilance to ensure that children drink as much water as necessary and avoiding unnecessary exposure to the sun during the hottest hours of the day. All camp activities are fully insured throughout the entire period that children are at camp.
