Kimama Bereisheet is an Israeli summer camp in New Jersey with a staff of Hebrew-speaking counselors offering an unforgettable 8-week experience. 

The program is specifically designed for Israeli-American children living in the United States, ages 5-13. We also offer a Leadership Development Program for teens ages 14-16.

It offers a summer experience integrating numerous and varied activities, with an emphasis on spoken language through activities with the goal of creating an unforgettable Israeli summer. Programs are led in Hebrew only.

Our Staff

Our counselors, all speak at least two languages, are Kimama graduates, some of whom are emissaries (“shlichim”) with the Jewish agency, and all of whom offer a wealth of experience in leadership and working with children. 

Our responsible and experienced team of counselors provides personal attention to every single camper.

The team places a major emphasis on personal enrichment of campers, boosting their self-confidence, and providing a safe space where they can feel free to express who they truly are.

Program & Activities

Campers will enjoy various activity areas on-site, including rope bridges, climbing wall, pool, archery range, arts and crafts spaces, open areas, lawn, nature spaces, sports fields, tennis courts, soccer, basketball, volleyball, and more. Additionally, a variety of enrichment activities will be offered in Hebrew including music, theater, dance, sports, Israeli culture, and additional activities to strengthen children’s Israeli identity.

Pool activities will take place in small groups, under close supervision of counselors as well as constant monitoring by certified lifeguards. 

The camp will provide campers with towels. On rainy days, we are fully prepared with a program that can be enjoyed indoors.

Camp will take place June 24, 2019 to August 16, 2019, from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m., Monday to Friday.

On July 4, camp will be closed.

*Registrations require a two week minimum; weeks do not need to be attended consecutively. Changes can be made as long as space is available. Please note there is 3% convenience fee added to registrations paid using credit cards. You can pay via E-CHECK for no extra fee.

*Kimama -Bereisheet Day Camp Cancellation and Change Policy It is emphasized that in the event of a cancellation for any reason whatsoever, the registration fee in the amount of $300 shall not be refunded. A. Cancelling participation in the summer camp up to a Month (calendar date) from camper’s identified start date The camper shall receive a full refund excluding the registration fee. B. Cancelling participation in the summer camp between four to two weeks from camper’s identified start date The camper shall be charged the registration fee + 50% of the price of the cancelled registration C. Cancelling participation in the summer camp between two to one weeks from camper’s identified start date – The camper shall be charged the registration fee + 80% of the price of the cancelled registration . D Cancelling participation in the summer camp a week or less from camper’s identified start date – No refund shall be given. For the avoidance of doubt, in the event of a cancellation for any reason whatsoever, the camp ‘registration fee’ shall not be refunded.

The Location

The camp is located at Alpine Scout Camp, a distance of about 30 minutes from Manhattan and 10 minutes from Tenafly. The camp is run in a lovely area of more than 50 acres with spaces for nature, forest and woods, with shaded areas spread out around the land providing excellent sun protection.

throughout camp, there are drinking stations, water fountains with cold water, natural wooded groves, and lots of shade offering us safe spaces to create educational outdoor-based activities.

Getting To Camp

Campers coming from New Jersey can arrive on their own between 8.30 am and 9 am, and parents are welcome to arrive with vehicles to drop off their children in the organized parking area.

Campers coming from New York City will arrive at the camp area in organized transportation that will pick up from pre-arranged pick-up sites near their homes in comfortable, air-conditioned buses. Activities will begin during the bus trip with songs and interactive games. Transportation is subject to additional payment.

Food and Nutrition

All food served at camp is kosher and meets all required health standards. The camp’s menu balances campers’ desires for favorite dishes with parents’ reasonable nutritional expectations.

In other words: the menu is fun and healthy. Every day at camp, campers receive a mid-morning meal at 10:00 a.m. which includes fruits or snacks, and a hot, kosher lunch at 1:00 p.m. The counselor team constantly supervises the nutrition of the children, and if any child experiences a personal problem, whether of a medical nature or otherwise, we understand how to offer the ideal response. Please advise us in advance of any such situation in order that we can make arrangements in advance.


The camp is a fully enclosed, fenced and gated area. Entering and exiting the camp is only allowed by authorized individuals, with strict and full control over all vehicles and pedestrians entering or leaving the camp grounds.

A clinic on-site at camp is fully equipped and staffed by a certified medical team (nurses) who are prepared to respond to any medical need. We take every precaution when it comes to adequate hydration, preventing excess exposure to the sun and to hygiene. Numerous drinking fountains with cold water are located around camp.


During camp, clear, detailed, and recognized security procedures are followed. A significant portion of our staff training and preparation before the summer begins is dedicated to security procedures and the manner in which care must be taken in executing them.

Additionally, our counselors maintain constant vigilance to ensure that children drink as much water as necessary and avoiding unnecessary exposure to the sun during the hottest hours of the day.All camp activities are fully insured throughout the entire period that children are at camp.

Bereisheet Camp Kimama brings Kimama’s experience and professional skill in establishing and operating summer camp programs in Israel and around the world, along with Bereisheet’s experience in developing educational programs and events for the Israeli-American community of Bergen County. 


Kimama A pioneer in the field of international summer camps in Israel, was founded in 2004 by a group of entrepreneurs and educators who understood the vast importance inherent in meaningful international encounters among children and youth from around the world.

Over the years, Kimama became a recognized concept, beloved and highly in demand. Today, about 2,500 campers from all over the world participate in Kimama’s various summer camps around Israel every single year. In addition, Kimama operates winter camps in Europe for children and youth, trips within Israel, educational seminars, and is establishing cooperative relationships with charities and nonprofit organizations.


Bereisheet is a nonprofit organization established in 2011 and managed completely on a volunteer basis by a group of parents from the Israeli-American community in northern New Jersey.
Bereisheet endeavors to offer tools to assist in transforming each individual family’s desire to maintain the next generation’s connection to our Jewish and Israeli roots and to the Hebrew language, into a joint communal endeavor through various programs and activities for children, adults, and the entire family throughout the year,
Bereisheet is operated by an executive with each representative within the organization’s management leading a number of activities within the community.  
All of Bereisheet’s work is done on a fully volunteer basis.
